On Sunday, the Border Ports Authority announced that it had thwarted an attempt to manipulate and waste public money with more than (87) million dinars at the Trebil border port.
The authority said in a statement seen by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the authority's efforts are continuing to confront attempts of fraud and manipulation and to prevent waste of public money that weak-minded people are trying to do in vain, as the Trebil border port was able to control and thwart a waste of public money with a value exceeding eighty-seven. One million Iraqi dinars was made by manipulating customs and tax fees for transactions completed at the port.
She added, "After matching and checking at the point of the search and investigation, two wheels loaded with material (electrical wires and cables) were seized," noting that "through checking the transaction and the purchase invoice, it was found that there was a waste of public money worth (87494532) dinars, according to the referral letter and the seizure report."
And she pointed out that "a fundamentalist seizure report was organized and referred to the investigative judge to take legal measures against the defaulters."
