The Electoral Commission confirmed, today, Thursday, that the judges in the Board of Commissioners were not subjected to any pressure regarding the appeals, while noting that setting the date for the approval of the Federal Court on the results is up to it.
A member of the media team in the Electoral Commission, Imad Jamil Mohsen, said, "The commission has been subjected to accusations that are not based on legal evidence, and after the election results are approved, it will act according to the law to respond to these accusations through the judiciary."
He added, "The President of the Republic and the Supreme Judicial Council were supportive of the Commission's work and did not affect its decisions, and all decisions were issued either by the Commission Council or the Judicial Authority."
He added, "The Board of Commissioners used to hold almost daily meetings to deal with the appeals file and counting and sorting processes, and its decisions are completely independent."
In response to the accusations regarding the appeals, he pointed out that "the Board of Commissioners includes 7 judges of the first category, two of whom are advisors, and they cannot issue any decision without referring to the law, and the Commission has not extended any period for appeals, and it has committed to a legal period that cannot be bypassed."
He pointed out that "the recent decisions that canceled stations were issued by the judiciary, not the commission, and the latter implemented the commission's decisions."
He stressed that "all complaints and appeals did not prove that there was any fraud in the elections, nor did they provide any evidence."
And on the date of the Federal Court's approval of the election results, Jamil said, "The Federal Court is the one in charge and is not bound by a specific time."
Earlier today, the Independent High Electoral Commission denied the issuance of a decision to extend the appeal period or the interference of the Presidents of the Republic and the Judicial Council in its work.
