Today, Monday, the Board of the Border Ports Authority issued a number of recommendations regarding the reality of the port's work, and the strengthening of administrative procedures.
Today, the head of the Border Ports Authority, Omar Adnan, chaired the first meeting of the Border Ports Authority Council for the year 2022 at the authority’s headquarters.
A statement by the authority stated that "Al-Waeli began with a general speech that included reviewing the most prominent decisions taken in the year 2021 and emphasizing the presentation of future topics in the year 2022 to complete the course of correcting the path, and developing plans and a studied work platform in order to reach the desired goals."
The agenda, which included many paragraphs that work to correct the reality of the work of border crossings and improve them for the better, maintain the upward pace in performance and work to increase the successes achieved by all operating departments during the past and next year, was discussed.
The statement referred to the “most important recommendations that were reached by the conferees,” which are:
    1. Follow up on the implementation of the recommendations of the minutes of the meeting of the joint committee between the Integrity Commission and the Border Ports Authority and the operating departments, which was held at the commission’s headquarters in order to ensure that all recommendations are implemented in the manner required by the working departments and the governorates in an urgent manner.
    2. The Council voted to host the Director General of the National Insurance Company in the next session to discuss the mechanism of work of its offices at the border crossing points.
    3. It was voted to allow the entry of piled ceramic material on the opposite side of the Mandali border crossing with a time limit (ten days) from 1-10/February 2022 in order to reduce the burden on importers working at the port.
    4. Emphasis on preventing the entry of materials prohibited from importing from all border crossings and confirming that the Kurdistan Region is notified of the federal agricultural calendar to work according to it in order to protect the national product.
    5. Emphasis on the transfer of trade exchange arenas inside the country and agreement on the curriculum and program that will be presented at the meeting to be held with the Iranian side on 1/3/2022 in Baghdad/Border Ports Authority.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the head of the authority recommended all the representatives of the governorates to follow up on the development of border crossings and the advancement of the infrastructure. In the same context, he thanked the governorates that have already begun to do so, but we hope for more attention to this important file, emphasizing the representatives of all working departments to follow up and monitor their subordinates working in border crossings and urging them to work professionally and honestly, not to allow the passage of any violation, and to ensure that state funds are collected in the correct manner and in accordance with the laws and instructions in force.
