Shafaq News/ A Kurdish deputy announced on Tuesday that Salah al-Din had prepared effective political programs and plans to restore the "looted" positions of the Kurds seven years ago, criticizing the existence of a single position for the Kurds in the province.
A member of the House of Representatives from Salah al-Din, Mulla Karim Shakur, told Shafak News Agency, "The Kurdish component is striving in a serious way to end the administrative marginalization and robbery of positions that it was subjected to after the October 2017 events, despite its electoral and national benefits in Salah al-Din."
Shakur added, "We are waiting for the resolution of the formation of the government and the stability of the situation of Parliament during the coming periods to launch a comprehensive coordination plan with the representatives of Salah al-Din and the administration of the province, to obtain our rights from positions as a major component in Salah al-Din."
Shakur criticized “the reduction of the administrative representation of the Kurds in Salah al-Din to one position, which is the director of electricity distribution, and for several years,” noting that “the position of the mayor of Tuz Khurmatu, east of Salah al-Din, is a purely Kurdish entitlement, given that the Kurds are the majority of the population in the judiciary compared to other components besides the rights of the Kurds in Multiple administrative and security joints in Salah al-Din.
The Kurdish component in Salah al-Din complains, on several occasions, of clear administrative absence and marginalization in all government joints in the governorate, and warns against demographic plans that seek to obliterate the Kurdish presence in Salah al-Din.
It is noteworthy that the Kurdish component held the Health Department and the Directorate of Electricity Distribution in Salah al-Din, as well as the position of the mayor of Tuz Khurmatu prior to the events of 2017, but all positions were taken from him and have not been returned so far, despite the fact that it is a national and demographic entitlement in accordance with the rights guaranteed by the Iraqi constitution.
The number of the Kurdish population in Salah al-Din Governorate, according to approximate population statistics, is more than 50,000 people, most of whom are concentrated in the Tuz Khurmatu district.
