Today, Tuesday, the Iraqi National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, chaired a meeting on the file of compensation for the Iraqi nuclear reactor, which was bombed by Israel in 1981.
The meeting was attended by the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, the Deputy National Security Adviser, the Security Undersecretary of the National Security Apparatus, the heads of the Radioactive Sources Authority and the National Non-Proliferation Control Authority, the official in charge of the atomic energy file at the Ministry of Higher Education, as well as the relevant authorities.
The meeting discussed, according to a statement by the National Security Adviser, the file of compensation for the Iraqi nuclear reactor that was bombed by Israel, and the ways and mechanisms for claiming compensation for Iraq, based on UN Security Council Resolution No. 487 of 1981, according to the legal means and options that ensure that Iraq obtains its rights, in accordance with international laws and charters.

The meeting affirmed, according to the statement, the consistency of Iraq's rights with UN Security Council resolutions and the obligations of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The statement quoted the Iraqi National Security Adviser as saying that "there should be a will to establish the claim to the Iraqi right."

Al-Araji directed to continue working and identifying the requirements for the axes of the subject, for the purpose of presenting them later to the Prime Minister, to decide on the mechanisms for establishing Iraq’s rights in this file and working to restore them.
