Minister Plenipotentiary Nazdar Ihsan Shirzad, Chargé d'Affairs temporary, discussed in the Turkish capital, Ankara, with the Chairman of the Iraqi-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Committee Huseyin Shanferdi, increasing the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Turkey.
A statement by the Iraqi embassy in Ankara stated that "Minister Plenipotentiary Nazdar Ihsan Shirzad, Chargé d'Affairs to the Republic of Iraq to the Turkish Republic, attended a meeting held in the Turkish Parliament building with the Chairman of the Iraqi-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Committee Hussein Shanverdi."
Sherzad called, according to the statement, to activate the work of the Iraqi-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and to work on everything that brings people closer between the peoples and officials of the two countries, and to exchange visits at the parliamentary level between Baghdad and Ankara; to promote common interests.
The Chargé d'Affairs affirmed that Iraq is open to all countries of the world, especially neighboring countries, expressing Iraq's adherence to good-neighborly relations, moving them to joint working relations, and increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
For his part, Committee Chairman Hussain Shanfardi pointed out the importance of exchanging visits between officials of the two countries and exchanging expertise and experiences in all fields, stressing the need for concerted political efforts between Baghdad and Ankara to contribute to laying the foundations for stability in the region.
Last Monday, the activities of the Iraqi-Turkish forum were launched in Kirkuk province to strengthen the partnership between the companies of the two countries.
The first deputy of the Kirkuk Chamber of Commerce, Nuri al-Salihi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "After the spread of the Corona pandemic, most companies and investors relied on mediation means at work; This caused the rise of a lot of goods that burdened the citizens of Kirkuk,” noting, “We are working for a direct meeting between everyone and a partnership in work away from mediation.”
He added that "the aim of this forum is to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between Iraqi and Turkish companies to serve the citizens of the province in obtaining goods at the lowest possible price."
He added, "Turkish companies welcomed the idea that serves everyone in facilitating trade between the two countries and eliminating redundant rings in a way that enhances the Iraqi economy."
On the other hand, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said that his country has raised the goal of raising trade exchange with Romania from $10 billion to $15 billion by 2025.
This came in a joint press conference held by Oktay, with the Romanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Sorin Grindano, after the end of the 27th meeting of the joint economic committee between the two countries in Istanbul.
Oktay praised the Turkish-Romanian relations, noting that the two countries' relations constitute a model in southern Europe and the Black Sea basin.
He stressed that the convening of the meeting of the joint economic committee between Turkey and Romania for the first time after a 10-year hiatus, constitutes a historic character for the future of relations between the two countries.
He explained that Romania is among Turkey's most important trading partners in Central Europe, Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
He added that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached 8.6 billion dollars in 2021, after declining to 6.7 billion dollars in 2020, affected by measures to prevent the Corona virus.
He added, "We have increased the targeted bilateral trade volume from $10 billion to $15 billion by 2025, and by 2030, we will exceed $20 billion."
The Vice President stressed that the positive course of Turkish-Romanian relations will continue on the basis of mutual trust and good neighborliness.
