Shafaq News/ The representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Mahma Khalil, accused, on Wednesday, the Iraqi government and foreign parties of "collusion" to turn Sinjar district into a "spring and refuge" for the Turkish Kurdistan Workers Party, which is in the judiciary.
Khalil, a deputy from Sinjar district in Nineveh province, told Shafaq News Agency, "What the Kurdistan Workers Party militia and its hired agents are doing in Sinjar district is a blatant challenge to the government and the prestige of the Iraqi state and the population of the district in general."
He pointed out that there is "complicity from the Iraqi government and in agreement with other countries to keep the PKK and its supporters inside Iraqi territory."
He stressed that "the gangs and illegal armed groups are all affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party, on the other hand, there is a strange inability or complicity on the part of the Iraqi government towards this situation."
Khalil criticized "ignoring and procrastinating the Baghdad and Erbil agreement in late October 2020, which has become a dead letter and does not exist in reality."
The Kurdish MP pointed out that "the practices of the PKK agents amounted to a blatant attack on the security services and the kidnapping of security personnel and civilians, in a dangerous precedent that threatens social peace in Sinjar."
And he stressed, "the need for concerted government efforts, in coordination with the authorities of the Kurdistan Region, to end the file of the Kurdistan Workers' Party in Iraq, return the displaced from Sinjar to their homes, and purify the judiciary completely from outlaw groups and outside the sovereignty of the Iraqi state."
A security source told Shafaq News Agency, yesterday evening, Monday, that clashes erupted between the "Ezdekhan" forces loyal to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Iraqi army, after this force refused a request from the army to leave a military post for them, in the Dokuri compound, north of Sinjar district.
And yesterday, Tuesday, a security source in Nineveh Governorate reported sending military reinforcements to Sinjar district, after renewed disputes between the army and PKK loyalists.
The source told Shafaq News Agency, "Western Nineveh operations sent military reinforcements to Sinjar district to reinforce their units there after renewed disputes between the army and Ezidkhan forces (Al-Yabsha) this afternoon, and the situation is still tense in the district."
He pointed out that the Sinjar Resistance Units (Yabsha) loyal to the Kurdistan Workers' Party attacked a vehicle carrying two members of the Iraqi army in Sinjar district, western Nineveh Governorate, injuring them variously.
On October 9, 2020, Baghdad and Erbil reached an agreement to normalize the situation in Sinjar, providing for the joint administration of the judiciary from the administrative, security and service aspects.
There are currently two local administrations for Sinjar, one of which was appointed by the federal government, and the second is the elected government, which conducts its business from the governorate of Dohuk.
The anti-Ankara Kurdistan Workers' Party has also formed a loyal faction there called the "Sinjar Protection Units" and receives salaries from the Iraqi government as a faction under the umbrella of the Popular Mobilization.
