    Economy News-Baghdad
Careem , the leading electronic platform in the participatory transport sector in the Middle East, confirmed that it pays great attention to partnering with the state to lead the digital transformation in Iraq.
The director of the company in Iraq, Muhammad Al-Bayati, said: "The development of the transportation sector in terms of the digital and technological aspect has brought positive effects on the economy at different levels, as studies indicate that a 10% increase in the level of digitization of the country leads to a growth of 0.75 per capita GDP. Moreover , the increasing demand for transportation due to the improvement of the economy and the increase in imports and exports represents one of the most important opportunities that drive investment in transportation technology in Iraq."
Al-Bayati's speech came in a presentation on "the importance of digital change in the field of transportation" and its clear impact on the country's economic growth within a symposium on "digital transformation in the field of transportation" within the "Tawasul" program in the capital, Baghdad, which was held by the German Foundation for International Cooperation.
The symposium focused on the importance of digitizing transportation in providing more job opportunities through a safe environment for roaming, thus achieving a higher level of income, better social status and better quality of service, in addition to encouraging foreign investment and enabling a better work environment for start-ups.
Karim believes in "the necessity of partnership between the private sector and the government sector, especially at the level of providing infrastructure and improving legislative laws."
Al-Bayati highlighted “the importance of starting to develop this field and setting a national strategy for digital transformation and improving the information and communication technology infrastructure,” stressing that “the state’s partnership with the private sector provides greater and faster opportunities for development through the exchange of data and statistics, regulation and setting strategies.”
Al-Bayati stressed the "effectiveness of legislative improvements in developing the work of companies that are part of the economic growth process ," noting that "these improvements should include the companies' registration law, and the improvement of the financial system."
Careem affirms its commitment to simplify people's lives by providing technological solutions to local challenges and improving transportation, commerce and electronic payment services in the region. It is noteworthy that Careem is one of the first major technology companies in the region that expanded in the Iraqi market to work in 4 main cities which are Baghdad, Najaf, Erbil and Basra.
