    Economy News - Baghdad
On Monday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs clarified the reasons for employers in the private sector to resort to foreign workers.
The Director General of Labor and Vocational Training in the Ministry, Raed Nahed, told the official news agency, "Most employers in the private sector prefer the foreign worker for several reasons, including the low salary, the willingness to work 24 hours, and the possibility of working more than one job at the same time." .
Nahed added, "There are inspection committees in the Ministry of Labor that include representatives of the Iraqi Industries Alliance, trade unions and government employees in the capacity of labor inspectors authorized by the Minister of Labor, working to visit all projects in the private sector."
He pointed out that "these committees, through their visits, confirm the inclusion of local and foreign workers in the guarantee, confirm the employment of 50 % of the local workforce in the project, and demand a work permit for foreign workers."
He explained that "any foreign worker who is inside the project and does not have a work permit, the project owner is directly referred to the competent labor courts."
