    AP
Tehran confirmed that it has "good relations" with the various political currents in Iraq and that it is trying to bring them closer together, without siding with any current against another.

This came in statements made today, Monday, by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani, who added: "We recommend that all political groups respect the Iraqi constitution to resolve differences and preserve legal institutions in this country. We believe that solving crises comes through dialogue and giving priority to the national interest over factional interests." ".
Kanaani avoided a direct response to a question about the possibility of contacts from Iran with the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr, saying only, "Our relations continue with our brothers in Iraq through our embassy and all other roads."
Commenting on the possibility of an Iranian initiative to resolve the crisis in Iraq at the request of the Iraqi side, Kanaani said: "We refuse to interfere in Iraqi internal affairs, with our attempts to bring the political views of the Iraqi parties closer to form a government in Iraq. Our relations with the various Iraqi parties continue strongly and we do not stand with Any political or sectarian current against the other.

He added: "We view Iraq as a single entity and the stability of this country is very important to us. In light of political stability, relations with this country can be strengthened, which provides the possibility for Iraq to play a more effective role in the regional arena."
