Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, visited the Erbil Traffic Directorate today, Wednesday, while inaugurating the new digital system for driving licenses in the region.
Masrour Barzani was accompanied on his visit to the Traffic Directorate by the Minister of Interior, Reber Ahmed, and the Governor of Erbil, Omid Khoshnaw.
In a speech after obtaining a personal digital driver's license, the head of the regional government said that "activating the digital system constitutes a new stage and a qualitative step," expressing his hope to generalize this system to all government institutions in the region.
For the first time in the Kurdistan Region, the digital system for driving licenses will be put into practice.
Masrour Barzani stressed that this method will eliminate red tape in government departments, and the citizens of the region will be better and faster, and at the same time thanked everyone who contributed to activating this system.
For his part, the head of the Information Technology Office, Hiwa Effendi, told Kurdistan 24 that this system relies on taking personal data, and is linked to a central population system.
Effendi stressed that "this system reduces the risks of forging driver's licenses, because the owner of each license has his own number and all information is recorded on it."
