Yesterday, Tuesday, the Kurdistan Region Presidency welcomed the decision of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, to withdraw his supporters from the Green Zone, calling on the parties to dialogue and solve problems.
This comes at a time, the main political parties in the region stressed the importance of the continuation of the calm and the resumption of dialogues between the political blocs.
The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, said in a tweet to him, "We welcome the position of His Eminence Muqtada al-Sadr and his demand to end tensions and withdraw his supporters from the Green Zone, and we support his national position."
Barzani added, "We hope that safety and stability will prevail in the country," calling on "the forces and parties for dialogue in order to solve problems and save Iraq from this difficult situation."
In turn, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Mahmoud Khoshnaw, said, in a statement to (Al-Mada), that "all the constitutional institutions, whether it is the Presidency of the Republic or the Council of Ministers and military institutions, as well as institutions in the Kurdistan region, we thank them very much."
Khoshnaw added, "Those parties committed to calm and tried to inject blood away from media platforms and channels."
He pointed out, "The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, injected the blood of Iraqis, and this is something to his credit, and he and the leaders of the coordinating framework."
Khoshnaw explained, "The political forces were in agreement on the need for calm and to reach solutions through which we can spare the bloodshed."
And he added, "The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan is ready to hold meetings, whether with the Kurdish parties represented by the Kurdistan Democratic Party on all constitutional merits, or with other national forces, and we are with the speedy formation of the government and we are not against exiting the current crisis."
Khoshnaw stressed that "Iraq faces great challenges, and we have blocked the way for those who are trying and waiting for the internal situation, and sought to pour oil on the fire and sought to reach the situation that burns everything."
He continues, "The political crisis still remains, but what happened is to spare the blood of Iraqis, avoid armed conflict, and return constitutional institutions to their normal position."
Khoshnaw added, "The political dispute must end through dialogue, and we expect that there will be a series of serious discussions that will produce positive results and end the existing rupture, and we believe that a new round of these talks will start soon."
For his part, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Sherzad Qassem, said in a statement to (Al-Mada), that "Al-Sadr's position yesterday to go towards calm and stave off sedition was a position stemming from assuming responsibility and in order to put an end to Iraqi bloodshed, whether from any party."
Qassem added, "The atmosphere during the past two days was very tense evening, and there were casualties and martyrs in the provinces, but we expected the political sane people to put an end to the tragedy."
He pointed out, "The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, called yesterday, the day before the wise to put an end to the Iraqi bloodshed."
Qassem stressed, "Al-Sadr's position yesterday was honorable, patriotic and an Iraqi position," stressing that "the political forces in the Kurdistan region hope that the rest of the politicians will be on the same level and responsibility to develop solutions for a true Iraq, building an Iraq worthy of the level of its history."
In addition, Sarwa Abdel Wahed, a deputy from the New Generation bloc, said in a tweet, "We appreciate the responsible and great position of His Eminence Muqtada al-Sadr in maintaining security and stability."
Abdel Wahed added, "This step requires other political forces to take a similar patriotic position, and to agree on what is in the interest of the country, even if it is by going to early elections to end the crisis. The leader is the one who makes history for his people first, and for himself later."
The parties in the Kurdistan region still do not agree on a single candidate for the post of President of the Republic, and at a time when the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan insists on granting Barham Salih a second term, the Kurdistan Democratic Party confirms its rejection of this nomination and presents Reber Ahmed Khaled as a competitor.
