The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee held a meeting today, Sunday, to discuss a draft law on military service.
During the meeting, which was held at the committee’s headquarters, according to a statement by the media department, “the draft law was read and discussed extensively, and the committee recommended during the meeting to proceed to read the draft law during today’s parliament session, a first reading.”
The committee decided “to hold joint meetings with the relevant military authorities to see their readiness if the law was voted on, as well as to listen to the observations and opinions in order to be discussed within the committee and then include them to come up with a final, solid formula for the law.”
The committee recommended that “the members of the committee listen to the opinions of citizens from all the Iraqi provinces represented by the members in the draft bill, as it affects the current and future generations, and take into account their opinions and suggestions in order to be presented and discussed during the committee’s upcoming meetings.”
