Yesterday, Monday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee reported that the priority of Parliament’s work for this year will be the Federal Budget Law, stressing that it is awaiting its arrival from the government in order to proceed with the process of its legislation.
A member of the Finance Committee, Jamal Cougar, said in a statement to (Al-Mada), that "Parliament will legislate the laws that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani included in his government curriculum."
Cougar added, "The priority will be the budget, and we are waiting for it to arrive from the government for approval, and we hope to complete this task before the end of this year." He pointed out, "The second phase will be for the oil and gas law, as it is among the political agreements as well, and the need for it to be legislated within a period of 6 months, as well as other laws of civil service, retirement and social security for workers."
For his part, the representative of the State of Law coalition, Bahaa Al-Nouri, said in an interview with (Al-Mada), that "Parliament will resume its sessions today, Tuesday, after adjourning the last sessions two days ago."
Al-Nouri added, "There are a number of laws that Parliament seeks to expedite their approval, especially those that provide services to the Iraqi citizen."
He pointed out, "The most prominent of these laws is the retirement and social security law for workers, which is one of the legislation carried over from previous sessions."
Al-Nouri added, "The coordinating framework looks forward to the adoption of this law during the current electoral cycle and not to be postponed, as happened in the past."
