Today, Thursday, the economic expert, Abdul Rahman Al-Mashhadani, outlined the steps through which it is possible to address the inflation facing Iraq now, adding that the rise in foodstuffs contributed to raising inflation rates.
Al-Mashhadani said in a press interview seen by "Progress", that "there are three steps through which it is possible to control the inflation rates that are happening now, including reducing fuel prices for citizens and sectors that use it, such as generators."
He added, "The corruption deals that took place by some political parties contributed significantly to raising inflation rates by manipulating the real estate market at double prices than it was before," noting that "the reason for the rise in the real estate market is money laundering for fear of confiscation."
He continued: "The new government should work to improve the vocabulary of the ration card in order to reduce its commercial prices in the markets."
It is noteworthy that the high rates of inflation have negative effects on the Iraqi economy and could lead to a major economic recession if the responsible authorities such as the government and the Central Bank did not rush to adopt support plans that would break the pattern of rising inflation and try to convert it into a descending pattern.
