Baghdad - Mawazine News
The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, stressed today, Thursday, that the blood of the martyrs of the leaders of victory must not be in vain, while stressing the lack of delay in consolidating the power of the state.
Al-Sudani said, during the official forum on the occasion of the third anniversary of the martyrdom of the leaders of victory, which was held at the Al-Rashid Hotel in Baghdad, "On January 3, 2020, we woke up to a tragic news and a dangerous development, which is the targeting and martyrdom of the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, and the guest of Iraq, General." Qassem Soleimani and their comrades on Iraqi soil.
He added, "The previous US administration's doing this act is a flagrant attack on Iraqi soil and sovereignty, and it is condemned by all international norms and laws, as it is a dangerous act whose repercussions could have threatened security and stability in the entire region."
And he continued, "Targeting a leadership that had a prominent role in pushing back the dangerous terrorist attack on Iraq and the region during the battle does not reflect respect for bilateral agreements and friendship between the two countries," adding: "It is necessary here to remember on this day the heroism of the leaders of victory in the fields of battle." And their confrontation with the most violent extremist terrorist group in our contemporary history.
He stressed that "combating dark terrorism needed firm faith, strength and valor, and that faith came through the proud patriotic spirit of the Iraqis and from the fatwa of the competent defense of the Supreme Reference, His Eminence, the Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani (may his long shadow last), and strength and valor came from the sacrifices of heroes in the arenas The battles are like the two martyrs and the thousands of martyrs of the military and security forces of all kinds, from south to north, and from east to west.
He pointed out that "the blood of the martyrs must not be wasted, and for this goal, our new government is working to build a solid foundation for Iraqi sovereignty, an Iraq that is independent in its policies, builds its relations on the basis of common interests with the regional and international community, preserves the sovereignty of its lands and waters, and prevents aggression against the country." his family and guests.”
And he added, "A strong Iraq is our message, an Iraq capable of facing challenges and crises, an independent Iraq that distances itself from regional and international conflicts and plays its important role in seeking to resolve them, and stands at the same distance between its brothers, neighbors and friends, and an Iraq that plays an effective and vital role in bringing the views of the parties closer together." It becomes a sponsor of convergence and dialogue, rather than being an arena for conflict or settling scores.
And he indicated that "Iraq, thanks to its strategic geographical location and its historical and civilizational depth, can be effective in defusing the existing crises, preventing escalation, easing tensions, and moving towards a safe and stable region based on the common interests of the peoples of the region."
And he continued his speech: "For Iraq to enjoy the stability it deserves, is the goal for which the martyrs struggled and strived, and for this we will continue to work to cut off the traces of terrorism wherever it is, and we will continue our path of economic reform and fighting the corruption pandemic, which represents the most serious current challenge. We work without hesitation on Controlling border crossings and uprooting the phenomenon of currency smuggling. We are moving diligently to achieve the government's goals in developing industry and agriculture, raising the standard of living for the Iraqi individual, providing job opportunities for youth and providing services to all society from north to south. We will not hesitate to consolidate the power of the state and the Iraqi citizen's sense of belonging to a strong country. A capable man who preserves his sovereignty and dignity and provides him with a comfortable life, and this is part of repaying the debt for the blood of the martyrs and their sacrifices, which paved the way towards a stable, prosperous, and fully sovereign Iraq that is the basis for the stability of the entire region."
