The representative of the State of Law Coalition, Asaad Al-Bazuni, confirmed, on Sunday, that the House of Representatives is proceeding with the procedures for amending the Provincial Councils Law.
Al-Bazouni said in a press interview, which was seen by Taqaddam, that “the majority of political forces support changing the election law and returning to a single electoral district,” noting that “holding elections is currently dependent on the resolution of the budget law in order to start discussing election mechanisms.”
He added that “the provincial elections law needs amendments as a result of the many comments received by the deputies.”
He stressed that “local council elections have become an absolute necessity,” pointing to “the council’s keenness to proceed with the necessary amendments to the Provincial Councils Law.”
