With the start of the second legislative year of the House of Representatives, “Earth News” agency counts the number of parliament sessions in the first legislative year, which witnessed a significant decline in the number of sessions held compared to those specified in the internal system of the legislative institution, as Parliament failed to hold 58% of the number of its sessions.

The beginning will be from the second legislative term, given that “Earth News” reviewed the sessions of the first legislative term in a previous report, which will be included at the end of the report.

In this last legislative feature, the Council held only 16 sessions, and these are in addition to the 11 sessions it held in the first legislative term, so that the total of its sessions was only 27 during the first legislative year, out of 64 sessions scheduled in its internal system.

The second legislative term began in July of last year, during which only one session was held, during the height of the political crisis and the disruption of Parliament's work due to the demonstrations that were taking place at the time.

Then the Parliament resumed its work in the month of September, during which it also held only one session, with the political crisis approaching a solution.

In the month of October, Parliament held 5 sessions, and in that month the President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Rashid, was elected, and the government of Muhammad Shia al-Sudani was given confidence.

In November, Parliament held 7 sessions, which witnessed discussions of several draft laws, but the most prominent laws were absent from its agenda, including oil and gas and the budget.

In December, the Council held only two sessions, amidst talk about the arrival of the budget, but it entered its legislative recess, which lasted for a month, after it was certain that the budget had not arrived.
