The central bank renews its previous position: the rise in the dollar is temporary

Yesterday, Monday, the Central Bank of Iraq announced the opening of a dollar sale outlet at Baghdad International Airport, reaffirming that the rise at the present time is a temporary situation. And the Central Bank stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the Central Bank of Iraq opened a new outlet for selling dollars in cash to travelers at Baghdad International Airport through the Iraqi Trade Bank (TBI),” stressing that “the sale will start as of today, Tuesday, to travelers.” And a maximum of (5000) US dollars.
The statement indicated that “the Central Bank of Iraq had earlier expanded the number of bank outlets for selling foreign currency from 20 banks to include all covered and willing banks, after the success achieved by its initiative to enhance the stability of the currency price in the local markets.” He stressed that "the rise in the exchange rate is a temporary situation." For his part, a member of the State of Law Coalition, Fadhel Mwat, said on Monday that the effects of the crisis of the high price of the dollar began to appear on the citizens, adding that the government and parliament are required to find urgent solutions to the crisis of the depreciation of the Iraqi dinar.
Mawat said in a press statement, followed by (Al-Mada), that “citizens and those with limited incomes have been greatly affected by the rise in the price of the dollar against the dinar.”
He pointed out, "The success of parliament depends on finding solutions to this crisis, and if the situation remains as it is now, the current parliament will be a failure like its predecessor." Mawat continued, "The prime minister and the concerned authorities are required to send effective proposals to control dollar speculation."
And he stressed, “The Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, is required to hold a session to discuss the crisis of the dollar’s rise after the end of the legislative recess.”
Mawat concluded, "The government came up with a project to reduce the price of the dollar before it was formed, and it must present its integrated project in order to solve the dollar crisis in the coming period." For his part, the other representative, Haitham Al-Fahd, stated that "there are large mafias that control the exchange rate and the sale of the dollar, and we demanded that there be transparency in the process of selling the currency, and four banks controlling the sale process were closed." And he added: “The closure of banks, which led to a rise in the exchange rate, we were hoping to postpone it, because of the Gulf Championship 25 and the fiscal year and preparation for the budget, but the World Bank besieged Iraq, and demanded that the government be transparent in the process of selling the currency, after that the banks were closed, and this negatively affected the citizen.” . And he stressed, “the importance of not blaming the citizen for the mistakes of governments and the mistakes of the Central Bank,” expressing his apology to “citizens for this failure.” And Al-Fahd continues, “Our most important concern is the budget and the exchange rate. Perhaps the problem is greater from within, and the outside may be participating in the “conspiracy against the people.”
Al-Fahd concluded, “Not expecting that there are close solutions to this problem. There are patchwork solutions, including giving the dollar to travelers, and as a result, the merchants themselves returned to buying it.
