     Health Minister Saleh Al-Hasnawi announced the signing of 157 contracts worth 70 billion dinars to localize the pharmaceutical industry.
    Al-Hasnawi said in a statement, "The ministry has contracted with a group of local, governmental and private factories, as the number of contracts signed by the Ministry of Health during the current government period and until the end of January is (157) contracts, with an amount of approximately (70) billion Iraqi dinars to provide medicines (diseases). cancer, life-saving treatments, antibiotics, chronic disease treatments, pain relievers, viral hepatitis treatments) and various other medicines and medical supplies.
    He added, "The record volume of contracting with local factories came after the ministry took a number of measures and decisions in the current government period to facilitate contracting with our national factories, represented in the following:-
     1- Formation of a committee specialized in registering the products of national factories to ensure speedy registration and non-accumulation of files.
    2- Amending the regulations for registration and re-registration of national products to facilitate the registration process, as the re-registration of the national product was approved after (10) years from its registration instead of (5) years in the absence of a change in the composition of the product.
    3- Granting national products that meet the requirements an initial registration within a period of one month only from the date of payment of the registration fees.
    4- The process of registering any national drug file is monitored by the director of the concerned department directly and on a daily basis.
    5- Working on a mechanism to meet the producers of national factories and their authorized representatives on a daily basis to facilitate their procedures, in addition to assisting them in arranging the requirements for the registration file.
    6- Work to adjust the prices of national products in proportion to the possibility of an increase in the prices of raw materials.
    7- Adjusting the estimated costs of national pharmaceutical products, according to developments.
    8- Preparing and approving practical controls to facilitate the work of local medical supplies factories and approving any previous comprehensive visit during the annual renewal of the license.
    9- Reconsidering the manufacturing guide for contracts, in coordination with the National Factories Producers Association
    The minister affirmed, "The ministry's commitment to adhere to the project (the localization of the pharmaceutical industry) and work to support and develop the national product in service of the honorable citizen and in continuation of the ministry's approach to reforming and developing the health sector in Iraq."
