Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein announced today, Saturday, the reopening of the Moroccan embassy in the capital, Baghdad.

"The visit of Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita to Baghdad is historic, and comes after nearly a quarter of a century," Hussein said during a press conference with the Moroccan foreign minister, which was attended by Alsumaria correspondent, stressing: "We will establish strong and solid relations between Iraq and Morocco."

He added, "Several discussions took place on a set of issues, and emphasis was placed on creating the necessary mechanisms to establish this immediate and future relationship between the two parties," noting that "Morocco plays an important role in the political arena."

And the minister stated: "There are about 40 agreements between the two countries, but these agreements date back to an old period of time, and discussions were held about creating a legal mechanism to study these understandings in a way that suits the situation of the two countries," noting that "the Moroccan embassy in the capital, Baghdad, has been reopened again." .

The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized "strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, and it is important to build relations with the Kingdom," pointing out that "the visit comes as a matter of opening the doors of relations with African countries."

Hussein explained: "We talked about creating a mechanism to bring together businessmen and investors and establishing a forum for businessmen from the two countries so that there will be commercial relations at the level of businessmen in addition to the government level."

For his part, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita affirmed that "our visit to Iraq is historic because it will witness the reopening of the Moroccan embassy in Baadad, and this confirms the strength of relations between Iraq and Morocco."

And he stated, "This visit reflects the king's intention to strengthen relations between the two countries," noting that "Morocco will remain supportive of the choices of the Iraqi people."

He pointed out that "our visit, we want it to be a real starting point for cooperation in all fields between the two countries," appreciating "the supportive positions on the part of Iraq and the territorial integrity of Morocco, and this is appreciated by the King and the Moroccan people."
