    Today, Thursday, the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, called on the Ministries of Justice and the Interior to resolve the issues of detainees and relatives, in addition to improving the services provided to citizens in the justice departments.
    The media office of the President of the Republic said, in a statement received by (Baghdad Today), that “the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, at the Baghdad Palace, both the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, and the Minister of Justice, Khaled Shawani," noting that "the President of the Republic indicated during the meeting He stressed the need to activate joint coordination between the two ministries, in a way that helps the security and legal cases take their course as a collective and joint responsibility.
    President Rashid stressed, according to the statement, the importance of consolidating the principles of human rights and justice for the victims, and strengthening the efforts made to resolve the cases of detainees and relatives, in addition to improving the services provided to citizens in the justice departments, facilitating the completion of daily transactions, and contributing to combating administrative and financial corruption, stressing the importance of The role of the Ministry of Interior and its security services as the main nerve in establishing security and stability, and providing a safe environment for citizens .
    The President of the Republic stated, "The Ministry of Justice must make exceptional efforts to maintain security and fill loopholes that terrorist groups can exploit, and to ensure the comfort of citizens," noting that "the Ministry of Justice is an important ministry, and it is necessary for it to take upon itself the enforcement of the laws in force that are directly related to the lives of citizens.” Citizens, as well as taking into account the provision of services to detainees and convicts, and improving the mechanisms for dealing with them in line with international standards and ensuring the preservation of their dignity," noting that "the places of detention must be classified in a way that ensures that perpetrators of wrongful and simple crimes do not mix with those convicted of serious crimes.”

    For his part, the Minister of Interior stated, "The Ministry is taking strict measures and punishing those proven to have violated the laws and regulations in force, or those proven to have abused detainees and prisoners, tortured them, or violated their rights," noting that "the Ministry is continuing to create places that include treatment programs for those convicted of drug abuse crimes." .

    In turn, the Minister of Justice confirmed that "the ministry has taken new measures to ensure places of detention that are compatible with international standards," noting that "the next stage will witness a remarkable change in everything related to feeding and equipping prisoners, in In addition to taking formulas that help reduce overcrowding in places of detention and facilitate procedures for visits to their families.” Pointing out that "the ministry has started developing mechanisms and modern technologies to monitor prohibited materials in prisons and detention centers."

    The statement continued, "The two ministers expressed their thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic for the warm reception and his interest in the file of detainees and prisoners.
