The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers confirmed, on Thursday, that the automation of the ration card will ensure that foodstuffs reach those who are eligible and will provide large sums and revenues for the state.
"The Ministry of Commerce is working on the issue of automating the ration card, which will ensure that foodstuffs reach those who are eligible," said Haider Majeed, a spokesman for the Municipality, adding that "this procedure will reveal fraud and forgery, and citizens who are dead or who are outside Iraq and are still receiving shares in the ration card."
Majeed pointed out that "automating the ration card will provide large amounts of money and revenues for the Iraqi state," according to the official news agency.
