The Department of Buildings, affiliated with the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities, revealed that it has taken a series of measures to ensure the rapid completion of strategic projects that directly supervise the stages of their implementation, which include dozens of service buildings, schools and clinics in various regions of the country, while it indicated its supervision of the implementation of 747 schools distributed among... 11 governorates explained that their efforts saved large sums of money for the country’s budget and led to the imposition of strict building specifications by the implementing companies.
The Department of Buildings represents the advisory engineering arm of the government and is responsible for supervising the implementation of projects of the investment plan and the state’s general budget in the public buildings sector under contracts concluded with government contracting companies or private sector companies.
The Director General of the Department of Buildings, Engineer Ammar Abdul Razzaq Al-Jubouri, indicated during his speech to “Al-Sabah” that “his department is one of the long-established departments in the Ministry of Construction and Housing, and its work is focused on two main parts, the first of which is fixing specifications and codes for engineering works, as it makes great efforts in the field Codes and specifications necessary for implementing projects. The second part of the department’s work is focused on the executive duty of supervising the work, as we follow up on work on many vital projects that directly affect people’s lives, such as school buildings, health centers, the State Real Estate Department, human rights, and others.

The Director General pointed out that his department had a major contribution to the reconstruction of the liberated areas, as it worked to build many departments that were destroyed, in addition to activating work on many projects that were stalled as a result of security operations to purge the areas of ISIS gangs, indicating that the department The buildings supervise 13 government projects and 747 projects that were referred to the department by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to supervise the construction of schools in 11 governorates.
Al-Jubouri stressed that “the department saved large sums of money for the state when it worked to directly supervise many of the implemented projects and not seek the help of international consulting companies, and imposed the highest international technical specifications during the implementation of the projects, in addition to obligating the implementers to use the best materials and tools during the construction stages, which is what It reflected positively on the final results of the projects.
Al-Jubouri also explained that advanced completion rates have been achieved in the current year, which witnessed the implementation of many projects in various regions of the country, as there is an unconventional activity carried out by the current government, represented in providing all the requirements for the success of the work and its implementation at maximum speed, pointing to the existence of joint work with the private sector. Through supervising projects, in addition to supervising 13 dispensaries in Diyala and Salah al-Din governorates, which are being implemented in accordance with a loan from the World Bank, and that the construction of these projects will be carried out by the private sector and supervised by our department, which has set international standards for building these dispensaries, revealing at the same time the existence of standards. Verified by the department, and according to those standards, penalties were issued to many companies that hesitated.
Al-Jubouri believes that it is necessary to facilitate all laws related to investment in order to attract companies to work in the country, and that the department is ready to supervise those projects that will be implemented through investment, whether by the private sector or foreign companies, with the aim of obliging them to implement the highest standards used in construction globally.
