Shafaq News / The President of the European Union Commission, Josep Borrell, affirmed, on Saturday, support for the success of the negotiations between Erbil and Baghdad to solve the relationship problems.
This came during the reception of the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, at his residence in Munich, the European Union's foreign policy official, Josep Borrell, according to a statement received by Shafaq News agency.
The two sides discussed, according to the statement, the latest political and security developments in Iraq, relations between Erbil and Baghdad, combating terrorism, relations between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with European Union countries and opportunities to expand cooperation.
Borrell affirmed, according to the statement, the European Union's continued support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in the war against terrorism, the process of building institutions and the success of negotiations between Erbil and Baghdad to solve problems, noting that "security, stability and prosperity in Iraq and the region are important for the European Union."
For his part, Nechirvan Barzani expressed his thanks to the European Union countries for their military, humanitarian and political support for the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, stressing the region's desire to "expand economic and security cooperation with the European Union countries in all fields."
In another aspect of the meeting, the two sides discussed the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region, the importance of the unity of the Kurdish parties, the war files in Ukraine and its repercussions, how to solve the energy crisis in Europe, the situation in the Middle East in general, and some other issues of common concern.
