ERBIL — Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari and his Saudi Arabian counterpart Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif signed a memorandum of understanding in Riyadh to develop security cooperation between the two nations.
"The Minister of Interior signed with his Saudi counterpart a protocol for security cooperation between the two countries, and discussed the completion of work on a number of joint projects of importance in the security and training fields, drug control and border security," Iraqi News Agency reported on Sunday, citing a statement from Iraq's Ministry of Interior.
The Iraqi official was in the Saudi capital yesterday to meet with government officials in an attempt to advance bilateral relations between the two neighbors. Iraq shares a long land border with Saudi Arabia, and this memorandum aims to strengthen coordination on security matters.
