Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Minister of Interior, Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, arrived today, Sunday, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on an official visit, at the head of a security delegation.
Al-Shammari was received by the Saudi Minister of Interior, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud, according to a statement by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior received by Shafaq News agency.
According to the statement; This official visit comes "to sign a protocol for security cooperation between the two countries and to discuss the completion of work on a number of joint projects of importance in the fields of security, training and drug control."
The delegation of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior included the Commander of the Border Forces, the Director of Drug Control, the Training Advisor at the Ministry of Interior, the Director of Civil Status, Passports and Residence, the Director of the Relations and Media Department, and a number of senior officers of the Ministry.
Al-Shammari stressed that "the visit will discuss a number of files related to joint work, coordination and cooperation between the Iraqi and Saudi ministries of interior, with the aim of developing security cooperation between Baghdad and Riyadh."
He pointed out that "there will be a number of discussions that focus on developing relations and coordination in various fields between the two countries, including intelligence work, drug control, international border security, forensic evidence, training, and other issues of common interest."
