The work of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference in its thirty-fourth session in Baghdad, chaired by Iraq, focused in its discussions on current Arab issues, including joint Arab action, institutional solidarity, taking unified positions on the Palestinian issue and restoring Syria to its Arab position, in addition to discussing Arab economic and societal issues leading to issues related to The Arab Union of Parliaments.
Baghdad Declaration
The closing statement of the conference touched on a number of challenges it discussed, the foremost of which was restoring Syria to its Arab position and the necessity of solidarity with it during the devastating earthquake crisis that struck a number of its regions, in addition to forming a parliamentary delegation to visit it.
The “Baghdad Declaration” stated that “the conferees declare their solidarity with sister Syria, with the formation of a delegation from the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union to affirm its support and stand with its people and continue to provide the necessary capabilities to stand with the Syrian brothers after the earthquake that struck a number of cities and villages there, and the need for joint Arab action.” At all levels, for the return of Syria to its Arab surroundings and the exercise of its role in the Arab, regional and international arenas.
The statement touched on solidarity with Iraq, as it indicated that “the conferees affirm their position of solidarity with the brotherly Republic of Iraq, and the need to provide everything necessary to enhance its stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and their permanent and firm standing with all capabilities on the side of the Iraqi brothers, as brotherly Iraq did not hesitate one day in Al-Ayyam is about supporting and supporting any brotherly Arab country, in various ways and means.

The Palestinian cause and the seat of Syria
Iraq took advantage of its hospitality to the conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and its presidency of the thirty-fourth session to urge the issuance of a resolution that would return Syria to its Arab seat and its role in its surroundings.
President of the Arab Parliament Union, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, called on the Arab countries to take a final decision to return Syria to its Arab surroundings and work on its stability, stressing the importance of unifying the efforts of the Arab House

Al-Halbousi called for “the Arab countries at all parliamentary and governmental levels to adopt a final decision to return Syria to its Arab surroundings, to exercise its Arab, regional and international role effectively, to work hard for its stability and rehabilitation of its infrastructure, and for the return of our Syrian brothers, who were displaced by the war, to their homes and countries strengthened.” Honored.

Arab economy and women
The executive committee of the conference had pushed its decisions to the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union to discuss several files, including the role of women and youth and supporting the economy among the Arab peoples.
A member of the Syrian People’s Assembly, Mughith Ibrahim, said: “The decisions that were taken with regard to the work of the executive committees of the Arab Union were the approval of the general budget for 2022 and other decisions related to the decisions of the work of the executive committees of the Arab Parliamentary Union.”

And Ahmadu continued in his interview with “Al-Sabah” that “there is an international economic crisis for two years due to the Corona epidemic, and then the Russian-Ukrainian war, and it is important to discuss this issue, especially since the food crisis in the future will hit most European and Arab countries,” noting that “the Union of Arab Parliaments Ambitious, and we hope to solve common problems in Arab societies, activate the role of women and youth, fight unemployment in Arab countries, and revive Arab trade.”
Economy first
First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, called for the importance of improving the economic, commercial and investment reality
in the Arab world.
Al-Mandalawi said in Iraq’s speech: “There is importance to improving the economic, commercial and investment reality in the Arab world through the parliaments’ adoption of the necessary and necessary legislation in this regard, and the ratification of agreements related to enhancing means of trade exchange, improving the investment environment, and developing the roads and transportation sector between Arab countries. and unifying positions in international forums related to trade and energy,” calling on “brothers to take advantage of the real opportunities for investment that Iraq offers.”

Al-Mandalawi called for “taking a unified Arab position on many challenges, especially with regard to the file of water security and the rights of Arab countries to protect their water shares from rivers, in addition to providing support to Syria to help it in relief operations and support for those afflicted by the earthquake, and affirming Iraq’s firm position in support of the cause.” Palestine, ending the occupation and establishing an independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital,” hoping that “this session will take decisions and positions that are in the interest of the Arab peoples.”

Wide Arabic support
During the speeches of the first day, the participating countries in the thirty-fourth round expressed their support for the Iraqi government and people in all fields.
The Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament, Ahmed Al-Safadi, said: “A secure and unified Iraq is in the interest of the Arab nation,” stressing “the support of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for Iraqi efforts to achieve the aspirations of the Iraqi people.”
The Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament called for “the return of Syria to the Arab incubator.”
In turn, Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council in the Emirates, said during the conference: “Iraq will remain open to all Arab brothers,” stressing that “the Arab peoples are looking forward to unified positions on crucial issues.”
For his part, the head of the Algerian National People's Assembly, Ibrahim Bougali, said: "The convening of the conference in Baghdad is a sign of Iraq's return to its usual role," stressing that "Algeria was and will remain
supportive of Iraq.
For his part, the Speaker of the Syrian People’s Assembly, Hammoud al-Sabbagh, said: “I assure you, brothers in beloved Iraq, that Syria has been and will always be with you.
While the Chairman of the Shura Council of the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal bin Nasser Al-Ma’awali, said: “We remember the great history of Iraq.”

While the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Aguila Saleh Issa, said: “We have achieved great success in Libya, and we have formulated political consensuses to end crises and resolve conflicts.”
The Speaker of the Yemeni House of Representatives, Sultan Saeed Abdullah Al-Barakani, said: “I express my sincere thanks and appreciation to our brothers in Iraq Al-Majd, its parliament and its president, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, for the invitation, hospitality and good reception.”
In turn, the First Deputy Speaker of the Bahraini Parliament, Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed Nasser, said: “It is our pleasure to meet in the land of brotherly Iraq, and to express the importance of Arab solidarity and unity of path, stressing the firm position of Bahrain in supporting Iraq and its development path and achieving security, stability and sovereignty.”
During the conference, Deputy Speaker of the Moroccan Parliament, Hassan Bin Omar, said: “Thanks and gratitude to the dear brothers in the Iraqi Parliament for the warm reception and hospitality, and for hosting the thirty-fourth conference to support stability in Iraq.”
For his part, a member of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, Thamer Saad Al-Dhafiri, said: “We bet on Iraq and with it today on a better future based on communication, cooperation and integration, aimed at comprehensive development.”
He pointed out that "Iraq was able, with strong will and determination, to achieve several security, political and economic victories," calling for "brothers' support for Iraq in protecting its sovereignty and stopping its violation."
And he stressed that “Iraq is part of the Gulf and Arab national security, and an important part of the Arab world, and it has its place and an active role in its surroundings.”
