Shafaq News/ An official in the Erbil Governorate Council, the capital of Kurdistan Region, revealed today, Wednesday, that there are discussions to restart the small credit project in the region, after it was suspended for about 10 years.
The head of the Awqaf and Social Affairs Committee in the provincial council, Saman Sattar, said during a press conference held today, which was attended by Shafaq News agency, "We met today with the Directorate of Social Control in the regional government and discussed reactivating the small loans project for youth in Erbil Governorate in particular and the Kurdistan Region in general." Indicating that it is "one of the governmental projects implemented by the regional government on a large scale."
Starr added, "We discussed the points related to this project and the implementation mechanism and its conditions, and we have other discussions on this issue to agree on it once and for all and implement it in the region in general and Erbil in particular."
The Kurdistan Regional Government worked on the small loans project for citizens for the period from 2009-2014, where the loans were determined between one million and 15 million dinars for each loan, while the citizen was required to return the amount within 12 months from the date of the borrowing.
