    Today, Monday, the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ghiath Surji, spoke  about the revenues of the Ibrahim Al-Khalil border crossing, indicating that none of the officials, regulatory authorities, and media institutions know where they go.
    Surji told (Baghdad Today) that "Ibrahim al-Khalil is a port that connects all of Iraq with Turkey and European countries, and its revenues are in the billions, unlike the Bashmakh port in Sulaymaniyah, which is known as limited trade, due to the presence of dozens of ports with Iran in the central and southern governorates."
    He added, "The Bashmakh outlet's revenues are known, and on a daily basis, the revenues and their percentage are announced with full transparency."
    In the nineties of the last century, the crossing and its revenues constituted the main source of the budget of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and it is based on facilitating the financial and administrative matters of the crossing. The regional government, which was formed after the elections of the nineteenth of May (May) of the year 1992 under the de facto policy based on the decision of the UN Security Council 1992, which provided security for the Kurdistan region after he demanded the former Iraqi government to stop interfering in the affairs of the region.
    And in mid-2022,  the Director General of Customs in the Kurdistan Region, Samal Abdul Rahman, revealed that customs revenues in the region amounted to one trillion and 691 billion dinars in 2021, which is the highest in 30 years, indicating that half of the revenues were obtained from the Ibrahim Al-Khalil port.
