    Today, Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the expectation of a joint cooperation program between the Foreign Service Institute and the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation to build national capabilities and raise the level of diplomats.

    The ministry said, in a statement received by “Dijlah”, that “the Undersecretary for Political Planning Affairs, Hisham Al-Alawi, signed a joint cooperation program with Gerhad Wallers, Deputy Secretary-General of the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation, at the ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad on 3/19/2023, in the presence of the director of the undersecretary’s office. And the assistants of the dean of the Foreign Service Institute in the ministry, and members of the accompanying delegation.

    And she indicated that "the program aims to develop the Institute of Foreign Service and enable it to perform its tasks in developing foreign languages ​​and developing the basic skills of diplomatic cadres, in addition to supporting the ministry in establishing a center for specialized studies and a national institute for professional development and preparing leaders and senior cadres in the country."

    She added that as part of the cooperation program, cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation will be strengthened in the following areas:
    1- The two sides agree to develop cooperation in order to qualify and train diplomats and specialists in the fields of: foreign policy, international relations, international law, global economic relations, formation of international public opinion, international organizations, etiquette and protocol, the art of negotiations, preparation of official and political papers and reports, management Human resources, crisis management, media and communications, cyber security, leadership strategies and future planning, intercultural communication and other relative fields.

    2- Holding training workshops, joint seminars and conferences on topics of common interest.

    3- Exchange of lecturers and invitations to experts and specialists to enhance the exchange of knowledge and professional skills.

    4- Nominating contact points from both sides to facilitate coordination of work on the items resulting from this cooperative program.

    5- Holding annual meetings between the two sides to ensure the achievement of the desired goals.

    The statement added, "At the conclusion of the signing ceremony, the Undersecretary expressed his hope that the cooperation program would contribute to developing diplomatic capabilities and preparing a distinguished diplomatic cadre that would represent Iraq well and contribute to achieving the government's foreign policy goals."

    It is noteworthy that the Konrad Adenauer Foundation was established in 1955 and has an annual external budget of about 130 million euros. It has offices and cooperation programs in 100 countries in the world. It is considered among the top 15 study centers and training institutes in the world.
