The High Commissioner for Human Rights recommended tightening control over social networking sites to detect the promotion of the drug scourge.
Sarmad Al-Badri, director of the Department of Relations and Information at the National Office of the Commission, told Al-Sabah that the Commission recently held, in coordination with the University of Technology, a meeting on the role of educational institutions in combating the scourge of drugs.
He pointed to the importance of investing in the digital world and modern technology represented by the spread of social networking sites in combating this scourge instead of using it
in promotions.
Al-Badri stressed the need to coordinate with the relevant security authorities to tighten control over these sites and detect bad contents that may cause, in one way or another, the spread of drugs, indicating that the current stage requires that all educational institutions have a role in order to educate on limiting its spread and combating its effects. in the community.
He continued that all governmental and community agencies must implement educational programs in schools, institutes and rehabilitation centers for addicts, and organize events and activities to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs, in addition to reviewing laws and legislation stipulated in the constitution and international covenants in this regard.
