the head of the Border Crossings Authority, Omar Al-Waeli, announced, on Wednesday, the settlement of all the authority's work to activate the transit system, while its fees were set.
Al-Waeli said, "According to the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, the Border Crossings Authority has decided its work regarding activating the cross-border transport system (transit)," stressing "the resumption of work and the entry and exit of many foreign trucks from the various border crossings."
He explained, "These measures were under direct government supervision, in order to activate Iraq's geographical location and demonstrate its importance in transporting goods through its lands to neighboring countries and the world," noting that it is "a positive message about the availability of security stability, as well as achieving and maximizing revenues."
He added, "The Border Crossings Authority operates according to a drawn and studied plan that is in harmony and follows the steps of the government's approach," noting that "there are many measures in various fields that will be taken to improve the work situation for the better."
He pointed out that "the fees that are collected for the (transit) service are 35 dollars," stressing that "the procedures are proceeding smoothly and without any complications," according to the official news agency. Ended 29/N33
