The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs included more than 80,000 people with disabilities and special needs with protection benefits, as part of the first batch that it launched recently.
The head of the Social Protection Authority, Ahmed Al-Musawi, explained to “Al-Sabah” that 80,000 people with disabilities and special needs were covered by social protection benefits and salaries in Baghdad and the provinces, stressing that the authority had started sending text messages to the first meal for those included in Baghdad and the provinces, in order to initiate a review by the ministry to issue a card. The “Ki Card” is given to them according to timetables prepared in advance for this purpose, pointing out that the authority has uploaded to the electronic system the names of more than 905 thousand families who have passed the boycott stage, provided that social researchers will be sent to them in the coming days for the purpose of including them in the next meals.
He added that the research teams have completed the social searches for about 995,000 families and individuals, and the names of those families have been included in the following meals that will be launched during the coming period, indicating that it is hoped that during the first phase, 600,000 families will be distributed in the form of meals.
He stressed that the coming months will witness the launch of the rest of the meals with similar numbers or more, in order to include the largest possible number of beneficiaries during the period specified for this stage, and thus improve their standard of living and ensure a decent life for them within a plan prepared by the Ministry in this regard.
