Today, Tuesday, an informed source said that the Basra Governorate is on the cusp of an expected visit by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani tomorrow, Wednesday, to inaugurate the Basra project for natural gas investment in the "Artawi" fields.
The source told (Baghdad Today) that "Al-Sudani will open an important project that will contribute to ending gas flaring," noting that "Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad will accompany the Prime Minister to open the project, which will be one of the most important projects to end gas flaring in a step that will contribute to In increasing the energies of Iraq.
The Basra Oil Company launched an integrated project to invest the burnt part of the associated gas in the fields of Basra, about a year and a half after contracting with the French giant Total .
The Basra Oil Directorate stated that “discussions with the French company Total Energy have reached a draft agreement to invest 600 million cubic meters of associated gas in the Artawi fields, west of Qurna 2, as well as the Al-Saba, Al-Luhais, Al-Tuba fields north of Basra, in addition to the giant Majnoon field east of Basra.” Basra and in two phases, each phase includes 300 bombers.
It is noteworthy that Iraq established the Basra Gas Company with Shell and Mitsubishi to invest gas from the fields of "Zubayr, Rumaila and West Qurna 1" with plans targeting 2,000 million standard cubic meters per day, and has now reached the ability to invest 50% of this amount, which is equal to about 1,000 million cubic feet per day.
