    A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Aziz Sharif al-Mayahi, criticized the weakness of the Central Bank's procedures in dealing with the file of the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar, due to the losses it caused to the state treasury and the continued harm to the poor citizen, warning of deterrent parliamentary measures to end this chaos.
    Al-Mayahi said in a statement to his media office, "The government's move to reduce the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar, although it caused great losses to the state treasury, was important to support the local market and reduce commodity prices in line with the purchasing power of the poor and middle classes," noting that "this step It did not ease the burden of the poor citizen with the continued rise in the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar, which is matched by a waste of public money and benefits reaped by some private banks and corruption mafias between 40-50 billion dinars per day in the price difference between the official and parallel price.
    Al-Mayahi added, "All the steps taken by the Central Bank to control the parallel market price did not achieve the desired goals, due to the continuation of smuggling and corruption, which requires a serious stand by the government and the Central Bank, a review of all previous procedures and the adoption of new plans that end chaos and deter manipulators in the market." The exchange rate in a way that serves the simple citizen and the local market.
    And he stressed that “we in the Parliamentary Integrity Committee and within our oversight duty to follow up on suspicions of corruption, we will work with the beginning of the new legislative term to discuss the file of the currency auction and the parallel market and review all the procedures that were followed by the concerned authorities with a comprehensive assessment of the situation to come out finally to be discussed inside the dome of parliament In a special session, we will host all those concerned with this file in order to reach a new and clear mechanism that deters corruption mafias, ends the state of chaos, and supports the state treasury and the fragile classes of the Iraqi people.
