Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: The Ministry of Communications announced the approval of the “transit” capacity crossing project to link the Gulf countries to Iraq via Kuwait.
The ministry stated, in a statement received by Al-Masalla, that the Opinion Board in the Ministry of Communications held its 130th session, chaired by Minister Hayam Al-Yasiri, and the transit project linking the Gulf countries to Iraq via Kuwait was approved and referred to the General Company for Communications and Informatics to proceed with the contracting procedures.
He added that this project includes investing in Iraq's geographical location by making it a link linking the Gulf countries and Southeast Asia to Europe through Iraq, after linking it by land with Kuwait by means of an optical cable, which enhances Iraq's regional and international status.
Al-Yasiri stressed that this project will contribute to maximizing Iraq's revenues and stability on the security and economic levels by encouraging attracting international investments and making it a strong competitor in the global telecommunications market.
