    Early next year, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities will start implementing the Baghdad Ring Road project, as it is currently working on finalizing its designs and eliminating conflicts.
    The official spokesman for the ministry, Nabil Al-Saffar, told Al-Sabah, followed by Al-Iqtisad News: The ring road project is one of the important strategic projects included in the government program, indicating that the project is old and its designs date back to the eighties of the last century, but it has not been implemented, which prompted The Ministry calls for re-designing it in line with the current situation and changing the map of streets and roads in the country. a
    He added that the ministry is conducting in-depth studies in order to update the designs until the end of this year in order to start implementing the first phase of it early next year 2024, as it will implement several stages, stressing that the designs were prepared by the Roads and Bridges Department in the ministry with the help of an international consulting company specialized in this field. .
    Al-Saffar explained that the road is 94 kilometers long and 100 meters wide, and includes 18 intersections and three bridges, two hanging over the Tigris River, and the other over the Diyala River, explaining that the road revolves around Baghdad and starts from the Kirkuk highway, then Al-Taji to Al-Muthanna Bridge, after which Traffic Highway No. 2 Then it circles around the east of the airport to Dora and Yusufiyah and then to Al-Madaen Road and east of the Diyala River, after which it returns to Kirkuk Road at the Al-Sha’ab highway, and also passes through the areas of Abu Ghraib and Al-Bu’itha and connects several intersections on the highway, including the Baghdad-Mosul, Al-Kut and Al-Hilla roads, then returns to Dora and tangerine.
    He pointed out that the prime minister instructed the Ministry of Reconstruction to bypass all these intersections and transgressions that face implementation, whether they were building constructions, roads or projects, with the ministry seeking to achieve this in an optimal manner.
