Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani announced today, Tuesday, the start of rehabilitation and reconstruction of the North Refinery, with a capacity of 150,000 barrels per day.
Abdul-Ghani said, after chairing the operations meeting, in a statement, a copy of which Mawazine News received, that "the liquidation sector enjoys the government's attention and direct follow-up by the Prime Minister."
The Minister of Oil referred to "the importance of the reconstruction and operation of the North Refinery in enhancing the national production of gasoline, kerosene, naphtha, liquid gas, and so on," noting that "the ministry is working to restore the Al-Sumoud complex to its previous production, with the aim of providing petroleum products to citizens, the industrial sectors, and power plants." electrical".
For his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Liquidation Affairs, Hamed Younes, said: "The ministry launched a wide campaign to rehabilitate and reconstruct the North Refinery last May, in implementation of the government program and the direct directives of the Prime Minister and the support and attention he gives to the liquidation sector, and under the supervision of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister." For his part, the Director General of the North Refineries Company, Adnan Muhammad Hammoud, confirmed that "the rehabilitation operations for the first phase of the North Refinery project included removing rubble and removing the damaged and damaged parts of the refinery as a result of terrorist operations, and then proceeding with the second phase, which includes maintenance, rehabilitation, construction and operation."
