the Northern Refineries Company has set to complete the rehabilitation of all units in the Northern Refinery next June.
The company's project manager for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the refinery, chief engineer, Hadi Saleh Zaher, told Al-Sabah: The campaign was launched to rebuild and rehabilitate the refinery, which has a production capacity of 150,000 barrels per day, and includes several basic units to equip the Iraqi street with all oil derivatives and supply the national economy after it was exposed. Significant damage amounted to about 70% as a result of ISIS's control over the region and the hostilities that took place after that.
He added that the Ministry of Oil directed the launch of a major campaign and the preparation of plans and timetables to rebuild it, as the campaign began in May of last year, by preparing the project structure, necessary plans, schedules of quantities, and the necessary orders as a first stage to operate the necessary units such as refining, the hydrogenation unit, and sulfur desalination, in addition to the technical services units. Complementary to the operation of the refinery. Zahir indicated that the staff were able to rehabilitate the entire refining unit within a short period, and it is now in operation and production, noting that the trial operation phase has passed to the stage of continuity and stability and the production of four main derivatives, and work is continuing on the remaining units. He pointed out that during the past few days, the naphtha hydrogenation unit was operated, and accessories for some materials such as liquid gas that will enter the production stage, in addition to that work is continuing to rehabilitate the gasoline improvement unit and the rest of the units successively, stressing that after completing the rehabilitation of the refinery next June, other units will be added to improve Some products, quantity and quality, of all derivatives produced in the refinery.
