Kirkuk rejected all forms of Barzani pressure exerted against it in order to impose the authority of the Democratic Party and introduce the Peshmerga into the lands of this province with the aim of controlling and dominating the decision in an attempt to anticipate the holding of the provincial council elections scheduled to be held next December.

This step may be intended to impose the logic of force and then obtain seats in the provincial council and control its local government. This is something that faced a major reaction from the people, and this strengthened the position of the government, which affirmed its rejection of the domination of Kirkuk by the aforementioned party.
A member of the State of Law coalition, Rasul Radi, told Al-Maalouma, “All measures have been taken regarding holding the provincial council elections, especially in Kirkuk Governorate, despite the problems being raised by the Kurds inside this governorate.”

Al-Wandawi added, "This project was aborted and failed and Kirkuk was returned to its people. Therefore, the steps of the aforementioned party are not encouraging and are working to raise tensions within the province by pushing towards threatening the stability that the province has witnessed over the past period."

On the other hand, political analyst Hazem Al-Bawi said during his interview with “Al-Ma’louma” that “the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, and despite the frustration of many of his attempts, his efforts to dominate Kirkuk cannot end easily.”
Al-Bawi added, "This year represented a new political setback for secessionist agendas, as the anniversary of the failure of the partition vote passed without any media fanfare as was the case in the past, which represents its death forever." Ended 25 n
