    Economy News _ Baghdad
42 investors are competing by submitting their files for waste investment in the capital, Baghdad, according to what the Baghdad Municipality said.
The Director General of Relations and Media in the Baghdad Municipality, Muhammad al-Rubaie, said, “42 investors submitted their files to the National Investment Authority to compete for investment in waste in Baghdad Governorate, which is estimated daily at 9,000 tons,” noting that the authority met to choose from 9 to 11 investors according to the standards. And the data they specified, according to the official newspaper.
He stated that the investors submitted their offers and an agreement will be made with the Ministry of Electricity to purchase energy from the winner of the bid, and that the offers that were submitted include selling for 12 cents per kilowatt.
He added that the price is attractive and is applicable in all countries of the world to purchase renewable energy, pointing out that this measure came under the direction of the Prime Minister on the need to address the waste file as quickly as possible.
He continued that investors will establish incinerators to treat waste and extract environmentally friendly gases of the fourth or fifth generation used by the European Union countries, America, Canada, Japan and China, adding that the amount of waste that comes out of the capital every day, estimated at 9 thousand tons, can generate about 45 megawatts and sell it to the Ministry of Electricity. To benefit from it after connecting it to the national network.

Despite Iraq's urgent need to address the issue of waste and exploit it in the field of electrical energy production, in addition to its urgent need for electrical energy that has depleted its budgets since 2003, these projects still face major obstacles that hinder their implementation.
