Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced preliminary approval to include beggars in social protection salaries, while setting the controls.
The head of the Social Protection Authority in the ministry, Ahmed Khalaf Al-Moussawi, said in a statement followed by Mawazine News: “The authority gave initial approval to include all beggars in social research operations, and is awaiting the decision of the committee formed headed by the Minister of Interior to launch the campaign in Baghdad.”
He added, "There are many basic conditions set to cover beggars with social protection, the most important of which is writing a pledge from the Ministry of Interior that they will not return to begging again."
He pointed out that "every beggar who desires to quit begging will be included in social protection assistance," pointing out that "the number according to the report is open to include all beggars, and there is no specific number."
