    The Parliamentary Electricity and Energy Committee, headed by Muhammad Nouri Al-Abd Rabbo, Chairman of the Committee, and in the presence of members of the Subcommittee on the Electricity Committee (Collection Committee), today, Sunday, October 15, 2023, held a meeting with Ziad Ali, Minister of Electricity, and the senior staff in the Ministry to discuss a number of issues.     At the beginning of the meeting held at the Ministry’s headquarters, the Chairman of the Committee stressed the importance of the distribution sector in the field of controlling electricity consumption, pointing out that there is a large percentage of waste in some areas, which requires activating the collection service and smart meters, adding to the trend towards community awareness and dealing with international companies in installing Smart meters.



    For his part, the Minister of Electricity stated that, based on the implementation of the budget instructions, a plan was issued in two stages, including the file of old contracts and how to deal with them in coordination with the parliamentary subcommittee and a study of the companies that will be contracted with, according to the conditions prepared by the Ministry and the submission of a work map for competition, in addition to a project to transfer Smart networks and creating a clear vision of the details related to the projects in coordination with the committee, indicating that 75% of the collection fund will be spent on changing the network from air to smart while developing and maintaining the network.
