Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kadhim, invited reputable local and international companies to submit their offers to participate in implementing the infrastructure of the New Sadr City project by announcing the pre-qualification document (expression of interest) within a period of 30 days.
The secretariat’s media quoted the mayor of Baghdad during a press conference held at the headquarters of the secretariat of Baghdad as saying, “The secretariat of Baghdad announces today the pre-qualification document for implementing infrastructure contracting work for the New Sadr City project, which is one of the important cities that the Prime Minister directed to establish as part of a treatment plan.” The housing problem in the capital, Baghdad.
He added, "The city is receiving the attention of the Prime Minister through the formation of the Diwani Affairs Committee headed by him. This committee held many meetings, and the outcome of the work of this committee was the preparation of an integrated time program for the purpose of starting the implementation of this city."
He continued, "The Municipality of Baghdad had previously signed a consulting contract with an international consulting body to prepare detailed designs for the infrastructure of this city. It also contracted with a consulting body to audit the designs implemented by the consulting body, and today, after the consulting body completed the first phase of the designs and after the fourth meeting headed by Mr. President of the Council The Ministers of the Diwani Order Committee, the Municipality of Baghdad announce the pre-qualification document for reputable international companies and excellent Iraqi companies for the purpose of expressing their desire to implement the infrastructure project for this city.”
He stated, "Today, the Iraqi government and the Baghdad Municipality are adopting a new mechanism to implement this project by providing the necessary financial allocations and attracting international and local companies with high capabilities and excellent technical competence in order to begin implementing the infrastructure of this city, and then after the consulting body completes the executive designs, it will begin." “Implementing 1,000 housing units with their infrastructure, and the third phase includes implementing 10,000 housing units with full services.”
He explained, "The New Sadr City project is not an investment project and covers approximately 60,000 housing units. The first phase is implementing the infrastructure of this city, including road networks, water networks, sewage networks, and electricity services in full for this project."
He pointed out that "the Iraqi government will work to distribute these units according to mechanisms that will be approved later to distribute them to specific segments according to its vision."
