Confirmations continue regarding the completion of traffic congestion relief projects, which are being completed under the direct supervision of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani and the follow-up of the Ministry of Construction, as completion rates in some important projects have reached 40% despite the challenges that confuse the flow of work.
Director General of Roads and Bridges, Hussein Jassim Al-Moussawi, said: The completion rates in the projects to address traffic congestion supervised by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani are advanced in most locations, including touching 40%, and ahead of the implementation schedules stated in the referral decision, pointing out that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani is supportive. It is great for the national effort and gives it confidence to complete projects, and this represents a real motivation for local companies to have an advanced level of performance.
Al-Moussawi added to “Al-Sabah” that work is continuing within the sites and qualitative solutions are being developed in the field to the conflicts that confuse the work in a way that does not negatively affect the services provided to the areas adjacent to the project, pointing out that the Aden Square bridges project is being worked on in all stages at the same time. .
He pointed out that there is great cooperation between the public and private sectors in this project, which is one of the most important projects serving the areas of northern Baghdad and the northern governorates. It is witnessing great momentum and it is hoped that it will be completed within the completion period of 10 months or before this period.
He pointed out that the private sector in this project reflected a positive image of the capabilities it possesses, which enable it to achieve qualitative achievement within the periods specified in the referral.
He pointed out that the success achieved came after we studied the reasons for the failure of previous projects and through them we proceeded to solutions, as reputable companies are selected that have similar projects and real implementation capabilities that enable them to complete the projects away from entering the cycle of procrastination that has accompanied many projects.
He said that the Iraqi Contractors Union’s follow-up of the reality of work in the field has a positive impact on the performance of the Iraqi contractor, as it gives him confidence and enhances executive capabilities, as there is evaluative oversight of the reality of the companies’ performance.
The head of the Iraqi Contractors Union, Ali Al-Sanafi, stated that Iraq now has companies that have the ability to implement the largest projects in the country and according to qualitative specifications, especially since these companies have worked to develop the reality of their performance and the expertise of their work teams to high levels that enable them to overcome the greatest challenges.
He pointed out that the Union is closely following all projects and is working to support the Iraqi contractor in a way that ensures its performance, as we realize that developing the capabilities of the Iraqi contractor is extremely important, explaining the country’s need for capabilities that reduce time and effort and achieve qualitative achievement in accordance with international specifications.
He stated that in the coming periods, the Iraqi private sector will play a major role in changing the reality of implementation and raising its details to global performance, and this coincides with proving its existence and openness to the world and benefiting from successful international experiences.
As for the engineer executing the project, Amer Naji Saleh, he indicated that the work is continuing and at an increasing pace, and we are working to implement the project before its completion period of 10 months, pointing out that 207 pillars out of a total of 211 have been completed, and we are working to overcome all conflicts within the shortest period despite their complexity. However, cooperation with the departments Facilitated the containment of challenges facing the project implementation teams.
He stressed that Iraqi expertise is constantly developing through contact with the specialized and advanced international effort through participation in international and local exhibitions that bring the latest technology in various specializations, as we find that the local effort today is capable of implementing the largest projects and in accordance with qualitative specifications.
