{Politics: Al-Furat News} The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee announced the completion of amendments to the laws of the National Intelligence and Security Services.
Committee member Ali Al-Bindawi said in a press statement, “The committee completed the discussion of the most important laws in the committee, which are the two laws for the National Intelligence and Security Service, and they are among the very important laws for the security establishment.”
Al-Bindawi added, "Approval of the two laws is important to the employees of the two institutions, as there must be a law that protects the employees of the National Security and the Intelligence Service, as they are very important institutions among their counterparts, and it is unreasonable for these agencies to operate without a law."
He pointed out that "the first reading of these two laws took place recently, with amendments being made to some of their paragraphs in the presence of representatives of the Supreme Judicial Council, Intelligence and National Security. At that time, extensive discussions took place in all paragraphs of the two laws and they became ready for the second reading."
He explained, "The most important amendments that took place were the merging of directorates from these institutions and the creation of departments in addition to the issue of information and sources."
Al-Bindawi pointed out that “discussions regarding the two laws took place at the highest levels and in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Intelligence Service, the Administrative Undersecretary of National Security, and the General Directors of both agencies to put the final touches.”
