    The Ministry of Water Resources confirmed, on Thursday, that the negotiation file regarding Iraq’s water shares is large and sovereign and enjoys the support of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, while specifying two matters that enabled it to prepare to receive any expected amounts of rain.
    The ministry’s spokesman, Khaled Shamal, told an official agency followed by “Al-Aqsad News” that “the ministry is ready to receive any amounts of rain for two important reasons: the first is related to the presence of a large storage vacuum in the Iraqi reservoirs due to the four scarce years that have passed and led to a decrease in revenues and storage, and the other matter is It relates to the measures taken by the Ministry to rehabilitate, maintain, and operate all facilities concerned with distribution, control, and storage, and to make them ready.
    Regarding Iraq’s water shares with neighboring countries, Shamal indicated that “the Iraqi negotiating delegation continues to reach an understanding with Turkey, Iran and Syria regarding Iraq’s water shares,” explaining that “negotiation and communication are based on the fact that the water file for Iraq constitutes one of the axes of national security, as there is support.” A senior member of the Prime Minister, the Ministries of Water Resources and Agriculture, and the Parliamentary Marshlands Committee of the Iraqi negotiating team.”
    He continued, "The water rights of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers are clear and there is no room for bargaining over them," adding, "The negotiation file is large and sovereign and contains several aspects, including technical aspects managed by the Ministry of Resources, diplomacy, and other aspects."
