Al-Watifi said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “The political forces are unanimous in holding the elections on the specified date in order for the government to implement its political program, which stipulates holding local elections at the end of this year.”
He added, "Local elections are a constitutional entitlement that must be held regardless of the observations," pointing out that the House of Representatives is proceeding with amending the law for the Independent High Electoral Commission to continue its work for 6 months.
He continued, "The work of the Council of Commissioners will continue until the results of the provincial council elections are approved." End25
