    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
All data indicates that the Federal Supreme Court’s decision to cancel Al-Halbousi’s membership in Parliament caused a “political shock,” and this leads to raising questions about the political future of the expelled Speaker of Parliament, especially with the approaching provincial council elections.
But the Victory coalition led by Haider al-Abadi has another opinion. The leader of the coalition, Aqeel Al-Rudaini, confirms that the future of the alliances between the Shiite blocs and Muhammad Al-Halbousi will not be affected after the latter’s departure from the position of Speaker of Parliament.
Al-Rudaini told Baghdad Today, Sunday (November 19, 2023), that “the alliances between the Shiite blocs and Al-Halbousi or other political parties (Sunni or Kurdish) are not based on positions, but rather on the basis of interests and agreements, and this is the standard for any alliance.” Politician".
He stated that “Al-Halbousi’s departure from the presidency of the House of Representatives will not cause any harm to the Shiite blocs, nor will it benefit them,” noting that “this position is deserved by the Sunni component, and the Shiite blocs have good and kind relations with all Sunni blocs and do not have any estrangement with anyone.” Political work will continue with Al-Halbousi politically, as he has a large parliamentary bloc.”
Some political opinions believe that Al-Halbousi has lost his political power, and the boycott of the provincial council elections or his absence will not affect anything, and the political process will not depend on any political bloc .
The Secretary-General of the Iraqi National Affiliation Party, Hikmat Suleiman, said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “Al-Halbousi built his political position in general on the basis of power and not according to concepts, programs or a political project, so he lost his power after the Federal Court’s decision to terminate his membership yesterday.” Pointing out that "he will be the biggest loser in any upcoming elections ."
He added, "Boycotting a coalition that advances any elections will not have an impact, and all previous experiences have proven that the electoral process is greater than any bloc," considering that "the public will join the elections and vote for whoever they deem appropriate, meaning that any call in this direction will not lead to any changes. "
He pointed out that “Al-Halbousi lost his political power after the Federal Court’s decision because it was based on position and he does not have any other capabilities for political work,” pointing out that “an objective reading of his journey and rise indicates the extent of the problems that emerged during his political journey. ”
He continued, "Many files have begun to be opened starting today against Al-Halbousi's major violations in several files, including the Reconstruction Fund, the Sunni Endowment, the provinces, and other matters," pointing out that "everything will come out to public opinion through integrity and the judiciary, as it is the decisive factor in deciding decisions in the end." .
